Reply to Terry Jones' Plan to Burn the Quran

Allah, Glory be to Him, mentions in a Hadith Qudsi "...O My servants, you will not attain harming Me so as to harm Me, and will not attain benefitting Me so as to benefit Me. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any one man of you, that would not increase My kingdom in anything. O My servants, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any one man of you, that would not decrease My kingdom in anything..." (Muslim)

Often arrogance and hatred cause a man's mind to go blind of reality. He forgets about his insignificant origin and his final destination. The effect of displesure of God around him goes unnoticed by his intellect. They are classified in the Quran as "Deaf, dumb, and blind..." (Surah Baqarah:18). No matter what counsel is given to them, they stick to their own wicked decisions and execute those tasks no matter the consequence.

Firstly, Pastor Terry Jones' plan to burn the Holy Quran is nothing but a foolish endeveour which will ultimately attract danger to himself, his religion, his people and his country. Since the Quran is one of the most sacred symbols to over 1.2 billion Muslims worldwide, any public dishonouring of this Holy Book will not be tolerated. Major dignitaries in USA have clearly recognized this simple fact yet it is sad that Terry Jones does not see the overall large picture of his planned act.

Secondly, Terry Jones' linking 911 to Quran shows his lack of understanding of the religion of Islam and current political affairs. Islam is a complete way of life and its teachings touches each and every aspect of a person's life. This includes war and defence. Thus, in various places of the Quran, guidance is given to Muslims about offence and defence where they might face threats from enemies. Such verses from the Quran should not be taken as revelations for general public.

Pastor Terry Jones must re-think his decision to burn the Holy Quran. This heinous crime will cause anger of millions of Muslims around the world and ultimately the anger of God. God is one who shows mercy to His creatures and such acts are not promoted by Him. We pray to God that He opens up the heart of Terry Jones and gives him the understanding of the magnitude of this act.
